There is a current legislative proposal in the Republic of Korea to strip prosecutors of all investigatory powers. The proponents have argued that most countries, including the United States, do not give prosecutors the power to conduct their own investigations. Part of KPA’s function is to educate the public regarding issues of public safety, especially in the area of criminal law.
